This is another star quilt.  I am very fond of these quilts and have made several.  I made this one as a practice before I made the one for my sister.

A simple paperpieced, small wallhanging.  I combined the flying geese design with a simple pine tree.

I find that an Amish quilt offers a opportunity to do free motion quilting.  Here is an example of one of my first efforts.  I have since experimented with non-traditional Amish colors, more complex quilting motifs and trapunto.
The solid colored fabric of an Amish quilt allow for easier marking of quilting designs.

My neice makes awesome quilts!  At age 14, she made a queen-size Around the World quilt, which she tied.  Last year she pieced the quilt pictured.  I was honored when she asked me to machine quilt it for her!  I have yet to get a full-size picture of her quilt.

She is very lucky she has an incrediable teacher who has inspired her and many other students to learn and master quilt making.  To see their quilts check out the Quilt Gallery at their school.

On this project I used ivory satin fabric and variegated thread.  I used the Jenna Motif to create this trapunto pillow cover.
